Curious about tape hair extensions in Dallas?  Here is a simple look into tape hair extensions, how they work, and how they stay in your hair.

How do Tape Hair Extensions work?

Tape hair extensions usually have a very flat base, also known as a seamless skin weft.  This attachment base is made out of a polyurethane so as to keep the hair extensions in-tact and allow the tape to stay adhered.  The tape is usually a medical grade, hypoallergenic tape.  Two panels of these wefts are sandwiched together with a very thin slice of your hair in between the tape.  This means the tape is taped to tape, and your hair is just holding it in place.  No tape, or glue is exposed to your natural hair or scalp

After 4-6 weeks of wearing, the extensions are very easily removed in the salon.  While your hair color is processing we replace the tape, and re-apply the same extensions for another 6-8 weeks of wearing.

Will they Damage Your Hair?

Absolutely not.  Tape hair extensions are a great option for all hair types, especially someone with fine or thin natural hair.   Seamless tape hair extensions are also incredibly flat, and comfortable wearing.

How long does it take?

Application is very quick: 30 minutes to 2 hours.  Removal: 15 to 45 minutes. Reapplications usually last 1hour-2 hours.  (Not including color)

How much do they cost?

If you have done your research on hair extensions, you will see many terms that describe the hair such as virgin, remy, cuticle.  Here, we will dive into virgin hair extensions and take a simplified look into what virgin hair really is, and why it’s so important to hair extension quality.

What is Virgin hair?

In the salon, if someone says your hair is “virgin” that simply means it hasn’t been touched by any sort of checmical.  Virgin hair extensions generally refers to hair that has zero processing – chemical, or hair color.   If this is true, the hair is the exact same color as it was when someone donated it.  Once hair color, or any chemical straightening has touched virgin hair extensions, the hair is no longer virgin hair.

As can be imagined, virgin hair extensions are very rare, which equates to low supply and high cost.  Virgin hair is the best quality hair extensions you can buy yet they are also the most expensive.

Do you need Virgin hair extensions?

While virgin hair extensions are rare, and of the highest quality, there comes a point where you have to ask: how good of quality do I need? In other words: Is there much of a difference between an Infinity, and a Lexus car?  Also, you have to consider the legitimacy of what hair extension companies claim they offer.  Since virgin hair extensions haven’t been colored, do you really believe there is a huge source of 22″ long blonde hair extensions that they got from a blonde ponytail?   If a company promises 100% of their hair is virgin, and they offer multiple colors of hair extensions, we tend to not believe these claims.  Anything is possible, but this is highly unlikely.

All in all, Virgin hair extensions seem to be something brands have thrown out there as a marketing gimmick.  Virgin hair extensions do offer amazing quality, but this quality can only be found by very very few vendors, and only in the darkest of hair colors.

We only work with brands that guarantee the quality of hair.  What this means is, while the hair may not be truly virgin, they stand behind the quality of hair with a warranty.  The hair comes pre-colored, and we can match it to your own color.

This is a simplified look at hair extensions for medium to thick hair in Dallas.  For someone with medium to coarse hair you will need hair extension options that match your hair density and fullness so as to keep a natural look when you add length or volume with your Dallas hair extensions.  If your natural hair type is fine or thin, refer to my Dallas hair extensions guide for tips.  Here is more information on the best hair extensions in Dallas for someone with medium to coarse hair.

Which hair extensions are best for someone with medium or thick hair?

Having medium to thick hair opens the door to most hair extension systems since these hair types tend to have more strength, and give greater coverage to hide the attachment.  The most common hair extension systems in Dallas for medium to coarse hair are:

Balmain Doublehair

Seamless Skin Weft Tape

The reason these are the most popular is because each weft has more hair per on them, making blending and matching your natural texture much easier.  Fusion systems are not generally recommended because the number of strands required to match your natural density would be overwhelming

Fine thin hair extensions in Dallas are something most of our clients are looking for.  Adding volume or length to your own hair is easily done with the best hair extensions.  As hair extensions specialists, we work with several brands and types of extensions for fine and thin hair in Dallas.  Here is a simple look at the best hair extensions for fine or thin hair in Dallas.

Best hair extensions for Fine or Thin hair

The most important thing to consider if your natural hair is fine or thin is the strength of the hair extension attachment.  The last thing you want to do is add hair extensions that look great for 2-4 months, then remove them to find you have done damage to your own natural hair.  We recommend tape hair extensions for clients with fine or thin hair.  Seamless tape hair extensions are durable enough for 6-8 weeks of reusable wear, but they are easily removed which results in the least amount of damage to your own hair.

There are many brands who offer tape hair extensions, and we work with several of them.  Each brand has a different weight per hair extension piece, and different type of tape used for the attachment.  Depending on your hair type, we will make our recommendation based on which would best suit your hair without causing damage.

In some instances, we recommend fusion hair extensions that are able to be customized with small bonds like Balmain fusion strands or Hairdreams fusion strands.  Other methods with links, or heavy wefts are not recommended for someone with a fine natural hair strand.

The reason we work with several brands, and offer different methods of attachments is because we know there is no one-size-fits-all with hair extensions.  By working with several brands and methods of attachment, we can offer something for every hair type, lifestyle and budget.

If you are interested in cuticle hair extensions in Dallas, this is a simplified explanation for you.  Cuticle hair extensions are another way to explain remy hair extensions in Dallas.  Check out my guide for a more in depth look into what remy hair extensions are.  Here is a look at what cuticle hair extensions really means.

What is cuticle hair?

Cuticle hair extensions is, in general, another term for virgin remy hair extensions in Dallas.  The cuticle is completely in-tact and this results in higher quality hair strands.

What is non-cuticle hair?

This is another term for chemically treated non-remy hair.  Non-remy hair extensions have been chemically processed to melt the cuticles that are in opposite directions.  So, there are no more cuticles on these hair extensions because of this chemical processing.  Silicone sealers and fillers are used to add a smooth finish and shine to the hair, but this is not a permenant sealer.  In time, with shampooing and heat styling, this “sealer” wears off and the unnatural roughness and dry texture of the chemically processed hair will be exposed.  The result is increased dryness, tangling and matting.

Remy hair extensions in Dallas are something you should require as it determines the quality, and natural appearance of your hair extensions.  Curious about remy hair extensions in Dallas?  Here is a simplified look into what remy and non-remy really means.

What is remy hair?

Remy refers to how the hair on the hair extensions is collected.  Remy Hair is hair that has been tied into a pony tail, and cut.  As this hair from the pony tail is made into hair extensions, the hair strands always remain in the same direction as they were when cut from the pony tail.  This is done to keep the extensions hairs cuticles running in the same natural direction as our own hair’s cuticle.

Simply put:  all of the extension hair’s cuticles running in the same direction (downward) as our own natural hair is what makes them called remy hair.

What is non-remy hair?

Non-remy hair is collected from multiple sources with no regard to the natural direction of hair growth.  Therefore, the hairs cuticles are not kept running in the same direction. If left this way the hair would be totally unusable, it could not be used for extensions and hair pieces because it would tangle and matt.

The hair has to then be put through a process called an acid bath of which removes the cuticles/cuticle layer of the hair. Once this is done the hair is given a silicone coating to give it a smooth, shiny, and healthy feel.  In time, this silicone layer wears off and the results of the chemical processing become very obvious.  Tangling and matting becomes common, and the hair is inevitably dry and rough to the touch.

What is the main difference?

Price and quality.  Non-remy hair has much lower quality, and that is reflected in the price.  Remy hair looks much more natural, has a significantly longer “life-span” and the quality is much better than non-remy hair.  So remy hair has a slightly higher price tag, but in my honest opinion is 100% worth it.  Hair extensions are a luxury hair service regardless of which system you end up choosing.  Hair quality is not something that should be disregarded when you are having a luxury hair service done.  After investing in your look and appearance, the last thing you want with hair extensions in Dallas is a constant battle with tangling and matted hair.

I only work with brands that offer the best human hair extensions for my clients who want fuller, thicker, or longer hair in Dallas.  Finding the best hair extensions in Dallas can be confusing since there are so many brands, attachments, and hair types.  Here is a simplified look at the best human hair extensions in Dallas.

Where does the human hair on extensions come from?

For the most part, human hair comes from India, China, and/or a western European country.  The reason for this is because these cultures have a large amount of religions that participate in donating hair to temples, who sell the hair for profit.

Why should you have human hair extensions?

Having human hair is a requirement since you will have them attached for months at a time.  You will definitely want your hair extensions to be human hair so it very closely matches your own hair, and styles the same.

How do I get the right color hair extensions?

In my free hair extension consultation, we will discuss the options that best suit your hair type, and I will match the hair extensions to your color.  Some brands of hair extensions require being colored for a perfect match, and this is something that will be discussed in our consultation.

Is human hair quality good?

Human hair, versus synthetic hair, is absolutely great quality.  Each brand has quality standards, and as a hair extension specialist I only work with brands that have consistent quality.  Part of my guarantee on all hair extensions is the quality of hair, should you have any issues I will replace the hair.

Bead Weft Hair Extensions are a great hair extension option for women with normal to thick hair. These hair extensions use no heat, glue, or tape to attach to your own natural hair. They are a great way to add volume or length using no glue hair extensions Dallas.

What we like most about beaded weft hair extensions is the easy, quick, and seamless installation. Because there is no heat or glue, they are incredibly quick to apply. Due to the weight of the weft, and the link attachment, they are not meant for clients with thin or fine hair types. For someone with a fine hair type, consider hair extensions for fine hair .

More Information | Bead Weft Hair Extensions

How they work:
Bead Weft  extensions are made from great quality 100% Remy Human Hair. The Hair is attached on a very thin weft, which allows them to remain tangle free and look very natural. Silicone-lined links, which vary in color depending on the color of hair, are what secure your hair to the extensions. These extensions do not require heat when installed, so there is minimal damage to your own hair. The silicone inside the link protects your hair from the rough edges of metal, and prevents hair extensions damage.

How long they last:
After the initial application, bead weft hair extensions need to be maintained every 4-6 weeks. During this maintenance appointment, each link is re-opened, and the wefts are moved up. Keeping the weft closer to your scalp keeps them secure, and keeps them from being visible. The same hair extensions are worn for 3-6 months, depending on how well they are maintained.

How long is application?
For a full volume application, it is usually 45 minutes. Full length application usually takes 1.5 hours. These hair extensions with no glue are very easy and quick to install.

Do Bead Weft Extensions cause Damage?
When put on the right client, and they are maintained properly at home there should be no noticeable damage. This is where the importance of a hair extension consultation comes into play. You want to find the best hair extensions salon in Dallas for a free consultation. In a good consultation with a professional who is trained and certified on several options of hair extensions, you should not even be directed to try a system that would damage your hair.

One of our favorite brands of hair extensions is Hairdreams Hair Extensions.  Hairdreams offers hot fusion hair extensions, tape hair extensions, and top volumizer hair extensions for top of the head coverage.  Hairdreams is notorious for always offering the finest hair quality you can possibly find.  Here is a look into why we love Hairdreams

Hair Quality

Hairdreams hair extensions offer two hair qualities to best match to your own natural hair.  The hair qualities are labled “5 Star Quality” and “7 Star Quality.”

  • 5 Star Quality – This hair comes from China and is hand selected by Hairdreams strict quality control standards.  Since the hair is of Chinese origin, it is a thicker hair strand and is ideal if you have thick natural hair. 5 Star hair is available in these lengths: 12″, 16″, 20″.
  •  7 Star Special Quality – This hair is the absolute best hair you can get, from any company on the market today.   7 Star special quality hair has been hand selected, and sorted few hairs at a time to sort by quality, color, and length.  Once sorted, the hair is not chemically colored more than 1-2 shadesn only to modify the tone.  This hair originates from western European donors, which result in a fine hair strand that is perfect for someone with fine or thin hair.   Hairdreams even guarantees perfect 7 star special hair quality during the entire wearing period of 1.5 years.  7 star hair is available in these lengths: 10″, 14″, 18″, 22″

Application Methods & Options

Hairdreams offers several options when it comes to hair additions. Each offers different results, and here we will briefly explain each.

The most popular hair extensions method Hairdreams Hair Extensions offers is a hot fusioFusionn hair extensions system.   This is a single strand by strand method of adding hair extensions to your own hair.

Each hair extension strand has a tip that is used to attach to your hair. The bond tip is a thermoplastic nylon which softens with heat, and is wrapped around each section of your hair. When the nylon cools, it hardens and secures itself to your hair. There is no glue, or keratin used to adhere these extensions.

The difference between Hairdreams and other fusion hair extension systems is the way they attach to your hair, and how much is attached. Hairdreams offers different sizes of bonds so they really can be customized to your own hair type. There are regular, medium, small, and super-small bonds. This gives each hair type from very fine, or thick and coarse a match that prevents visibility.

Another benefit of Hairdreams is their thermoplastic nylon attachment. What does that mean? Basically, think of nylon: a fabric used in most athletic wear clothing. This fabric stretches, yet is very secure. Instead of using a glue or keratin bond like most other systems, the nylon bond is safe and secure, yet flexes and is removed easily.

tape hair extensions

Hairdreams also offers a version of tape hair extensions that uses their 5 star hair quality.

How long they last: 4-6 weeks.  These extensions are reusable, and can be re-installed once new tape is applied.  This keeps them close to your scalp, which adds comfort and keeps them discreet so they aren’t visible.

Who are they best for: Tape hair extensions are ideal for almost all hair types.  Here is an in-depth explanation of tape hair extensions.
