Our newest obsession are the Halo Couture Hair extensions in Dallas!  They are a temporary extensions you take in and take out whenever you want to amp up your style.  With the halo couture, there are no clips and the whole system is fool-proof, and very simple for anyone looking for extra fullness or length.

How it works

As you can see from the pictures, the Halo Couture Extensions sit on top of your head just like a halo. The miracle wire sits about one to three inches behind your hairline/bangs and the back of the hair extensions slides down the back of your head to your nape. After you gently pull your hair up from underneath the halo to cover the piece, the weight of your hair lying on top of the halo will keep it secure and disguise it within your style.

Comfort

Wearing them is unbelievably comfortable, and the potential for damage is as close to zero as possible since there are no clips to tug on your hair. It comes in several lengths so you can either wear it to fill in your hair and add volume, or you can get the longer lengths to add length. If you are looking to add extreme length, wearing multiple pieces and stacking them is definitely an option.

Quality & Care

The Halo Couture hair extensions are 100% remy human hair, meaning they are of the best quality. You can use flat irons or curling irons to style the halo hair just like your own so the system always looks incredibly believable.

Caring for these extensions are incredibly simple. They will need to be shampoo and conditioned on an as needed basis. Proper hair extension care products are recommended to take care of the quality of hair as is the case with all hair extensions.

Original Halo Couture

Halo Couture Lengths

Lengths Available: 12″, 16″ 20″ 24″

Hair Density/Weight: 70-120 grams of hair

Stylist Tip: The Original Halo is best if you are looking to fill in your style, and not add any length. This halo has less hair than the Layered Halo Couture, so it is ideal for adding extra thickness to your hair.  If you are looking to add length to your style, we suggest the layered halo couture option.

Layered Halo Couture

Lengths Available: 14″, 18″ 22″

Hair Density/Weight: 100-165 grams of hair

Stylist Tip: The Layered Halo is best if you are looking to add length to your style.  Each length has more hair when compared with an original halo.  It also comes lightly layered, which means minimal cutting is required, resulting in your having more hair to fill in the extra length you are adding to your style

If you are looking for hair replacement extensions, the Hairdreams Microline Hair Extensions System is designed for people experiencing balding or thinning hair on top.  Traditional hair extensions are designed to add volume and length, but can not be used on top of the head.  The Hairdreams Microline Hair Extensions System specifically addresses the need for extra fullness, scalp coverage, and more volume within your hairstyle.

Why We Love the Hairdreams Microline Hair Replacement System

The Microline Hair Replacement System features a net design that utilizes a combination of hair from the system, and your natural hair.  The combination of your hair and the microline hair increases your overall volume, and adds a significant amount of hair that creates coverage and hides your scalp.

Traditional hair extensions will not work on top of the head since they are designed to have hair that covers the attachment.  The Hairdreams Microline is a system we offer for hair replacement in Dallas.  It helps fill in density, and when integrated with your own natural hair, will create a very huge difference in fullness.

Hair Quality

Each Hairdreams microline integrated hair replacement piece is hand made with Hairdreams 7-star special quality hair. It is attached to your natural hair with tiny silicone lined beads that hold it firmly in place. Your own natural hair is integrated through a net structure that literally disappears as if it comes directly from your scalp.

Options | Standard & Custom

Standard Microline

Ideal for someone with normal thinning.  The standard net size is 6 in long, and 5 in wide, with 11 inch hair length.  A standard microline can come with small, or wide net structure depending on how much coverage is needed to achieve your desired look.

Custom Microline

This microline system is just like it sounds: custom ordered. Based on your own individual needs, this can be made to suit you perfectly. If you have an issue with balding on the entire top of your head, we can have your custom microline designed to help hide the bald areas with a material that looks just like scalp, instead of the standard net.  We can also make the overall size of the microline system longer, or wider depending on the area we are looking to cover.  Custom microline systems can be ordered in lengths up to 16″ long.

A custom microline is made to order, with a 4 month production time since they are hand made in Austria.  The following video helps explain the process in which a hairdreams Microline is made so you can better understand the process.

Maintenance & Upkeep

Once installed, the microline hair replacement system needs to be maintained in-salon every 3-4 weeks.  You alternate between two appointments, as we explain below:

Move-Up – 3-4 weeks after your first installation, this is a quick service that includes tightening the links that hold the system on to your own hair.

Removal/Re-Install – 3-4 weeks after a move-up appointment, you will need to have a removal/re-install appointment.  This includes completely removing the system, and re-installing it.

After 6-8 months of wear, the microline will need to be sent back to Hairdreams to be refurbished.  This ensures the net is always in pristine condition and the microline hair doesn’t prematurely shed.  Microline refurbishing takes 8-16 weeeks, so we always recommend having two microline hair replacment systems.  While one is being refurbished, you wear your other so you never go without.

Dallas hair extensions | Balmain Fusion Hair Extensions | Balmain Extensions Near Me

Balmain  Fusion Hair Extensions Fill In Strands are a great way to add volume or length to your own hair.  This salon installed hair extension system is uses a keratin bond to adhere to your own natural hair.  Fill-In Exdtensions are great for someone with normal to medium hair strands and density.  Here is a brief look into why we love Balmain Fusion Hair extensions.

How Balmain Fusion Hair Extensions Work

This system is best for someone with normal to medium density hair. It can be used to add volume, as well as length up to 16 inches. Application takes anywhere from 45 minutes to several hours, depending on how many bonds are installed.  The bond that holds on to your hair is made up of a keratin material.  When this keratin is heated with hair extension tools, it softens.  While it is soft, we wrap the bond around your hair strands to form a water-sealed bond.  As it cools it hardens, and remains securely attached to your hair for 3-4 months.

The extensions will remain installed for 12-16 weeks.  There is no moving up, or re-installing of the same extensions with this method.

Maintenance & Upkeep

Maintaining fusion strands is quite simple considering they do not need to be moved up inbetween installations.  These extensions grow with your own hair, and after 3-4 months, will need to be replaced.

Dallas hair extensions

Balmain Double hair weft extensions in Dallas are one of our client’s favorite hair extensions methods.   These 100% human hair weft extensions are perfect if you have normal to thick hair density.  Here is our professional review of Balmain Double Hair Weft Extensions that we use in our Dallas Hair Extensions Salon.

How they Work

Each DoubleHair weft is a 3.75 in. wide hand-knotted strip of 16 in. long human hair. (22″ length is also available) One DoubleHair panel has as much hair as 18 extensions and consists of 3 layers of hair.

Double Hair Weft Extensions are one of our clients’ favorites because they require no heat or glue to install.  The double hair weft extensions system is installed using a silicone lined hair extension tubes/beads.  When clamped down, these metal beads secure your hair to the extensions for a great grip without risk because of the silicone protection.

Why we Love Double hair Weft Extensions in Dallas

Double hair weft extensions are a bit thicker than most hair extensions, since they are double wefts.  This is something our clients love because they give a level of fullness and body that most other extensions don’t offer.

Each weft has a significant amount of hair, which means fewer extensions need to be added.  5 Doublewerfts is comparable to 100+ fusion bonds, which is always great.  Less is more with hair extensions, and these offer a lot of hair with such few pieces.

They are re-useable, and the hair quality is guaranteed by Balmain for 6 months.

Maintenance & Upkeep

Doubleweft extensions need in-salon maintenance every 5-7 weeks.  This is usally in line with hair color appointments.  After the initial application, the extensions rotate between these two services:

Move-Up Service – 5-7 weeks after installation, the extensions need to be moved up.  At this appointment, the beads are opened, we slide the beads up closer to your scalp to account for the new growth, and clamp them closed again.  We do this for all of the extensions so they are secured as close to your scalp and discreet.

Removal/Re-Install Service – 5-7 weeks after a Move-Up appointment, you will need a Removal/Re-Install service.  At this time, all of the extensions are completely removed from your head.  After color/shampoo/blowdry, we re-install the same hair using new beads.  This ensures there is no tangling, or over-stressing of the same hair strands for too long.

After 6 months of re-using the same wefts, new hair will need to be applied.

Dallas Hair Styles and Trends come and go, and hair styles are a great way to track the change. As a Dallas hair extension and Dallas hair color expert, I get requests from clients on all the modern trends. Just 10 years ago all the rage was chunky, striped highlights. These days, I couldnt pay a client to replicate that style! Just for fun, lets look back at the Top 5 Trends I saw last year with my clients at Dallas best hair extension salon.

Partially Shaved Hair Styles

I am not sure if the 90s grunge scene made a resurrection without me knowing, but I could not wrap my mind around this one. On certain people with an edgy style, this is an awesome way to accessorize. However, when someone who dresses very preppy wants half of their head shaved I think it sends very strange mixed signals. There were a few times when I tried my hardest to talk someone out of doing this just because it did not match their look.

Know your look ladies, and know which trends do and do not fit into your style. Last but not least, think about growing out this style. At a measly half inch of growth a month, this could turn into several years of growing out.

Ombre Hair Color

It seems like 2012 was the year Dallas Ombre hair color really became mainstream, and clients wanted it left and right. Sadly, I probably saw more terrible renditions of this trend than I did good. Outside of the salon I would always find it unsightly when I saw black hair transitioning to white hair. I mean, lets be honest: Christina Aguilera passed up the trend so why would anyone want to try it now, 6 years later? Though when done well, wavy or curled hair had perfect pieces of a lighter color that seamlessly transitioned from darker to lighter.

I like this trend for the low-maintenance client who just wants some color without all the roots that come with it. For people with straighter hair, or who rarely rock their curls, this generally is not for you.

Short Hair Styles

2012 seemed to be a heck of a year for celebrities to chop of their locks! Just to name a few, remember Miley Cyrus, Anne Hathaway, and Natalie Portman. When a client requests such a change, I always turn the chair so we face each other and have a serious conversation. I always make sure it is coming from a good place instead of a rash emotional change. If we feel good about it, and you are willing to style your hair on a daily basis then I am ready!

Deep Side Parts

When looking at younger girl hair styles, I often wondered if 2012 was the year of tweens taking a turn cutting each others hair. I mean, there were some side parts that seemed to come from the side of their head. Being in my later 20s and part of the (early) Millennial generation, we have a term for that: Comb over. They are not cute, way too dramatic, and lets break it down to the simple things: who wants to constantly sift hair off their face like Justin Bieber? Lets hope we are seeing the last of that trend!

Braids, Twists, and Buns

Buns, twists, and braids will always be a part of hair styling. When done right, not overdone, they are a fantastic way to easily make your style look like it took way more effort than it actually did. I have mixed feelings on this 2012 hair trend as I look back on the year. Much like the Ombre, I feel like I saw just as many bad as I did good. Sometimes girls were over twisted, or had so many braids they looked like a basket weave, or their bun was so messy I questioned whether it was shabby chic or just dirty.

I look forward to see what this year brings for us! If you are comfortable with your personal style, there is no need to change it just because everyone else does. The best part about keeping up with the trends and is to see which you can incorporate into your daily style as you know what works best for your lifestyle. My advice is to at least give things a try, and keep what you like and toss the rest!

Dallas hair extensions

Each New Year brings a new start for us all. As we settle into 2013 hopefully we are doing more of what we did well last year, and less of the things we disliked. Let this be the year you keep up with the 2013 hair trends and 2013 hair styles. A lot of people set resolutions, and make a list of what they wish to achieve in the new year. If you have not already seen it, check out my past post about setting new hair solutions. If you are tired of having the same problems, it helps you set some new hair solutions that remedy those problems.

Instead of repeating my call for fixing your issues, this year I want to talk about bettering what you already love about your hair. Not everyone dislikes their hair, or needs help fixing it. Some of us just need tips to better our look that we already love. If this is you, here are some great tips and tricks to keep what you have, but look all the better.

Try something new

Coming from a Dallas hair extension expert, I am always up for a complete hair transformation! But, a lot of the time it is not necessary. If you normally flat iron your hair, start working in curls or waves. If you normally work with product and your natural curls, try changing it up and smoothing out your hair. Is the idea of curling your hair with a flat iron along the lines of speaking mandarin Chinese? Then learn how to do it!

Let this be the year you finally learn other styling tricks than your normal go-to looks. You will be surprised by all the compliments you can get by just changing how you style your hair. Changing from brunette to platinum blonde is a heck of a change, but figuring out how to curl your hair after wearing it straight for so long will incite just as many compliments. All without the color processing! My best advice for trying a new hair style, is NEVER to try something before you head out to something important. Always try something on dirty hair on a night you have extra time. That way if you are scared by the end result, you can just shampoo your hair and start over. Youtube videos are a great tool to watch people use something, so you can see the end result, and mimic their technique.

Use products wisely

I often have to remind my clients at Dallas best hair extension salon of the three most important things that require a great hair style. First is the cut, second is how you style it on a daily basis, and third are the products you use to style it. If any of those three things are off balance, it will show in your style.

While I, and any other hair professional, will always advocate the need for quality shampoo and conditioners, lets face the facts: they are not the miracle the grocery store brands like to portray in their commercials. Unless you are one of the very lucky, and very few, who can use a professional shampoo and conditioner, and your hair styles perfectly, you will need to use additional styling products.

Using products sold at a grocery store is not always bad, and I will never bash them all as a whole. Often times, they use the same, if not similar ingredients as salon and professional products. However, the major difference between those products and professional salon products is where each places their priorities. Most supermarket brands are created with price being the first priority. To save money, a manufacturer will use cheaper ingredients or less of the more expensive ones. Salon brands are created with performance being the top priority, so in my honest opinion you are much more likely to get better results from professional products.

My tip for you this year: take the advice from your hair stylist and really ask them what products they recommend for your hair to help you have the best style. The idea that they are pushy, and want you to buy as many products as you can is nonsense. If you wonder why your hair looks so great leaving the salon and is so hard to replicate at home. Just watch what products, and how many your stylist uses before styling you out.

With these tips, I wish you all the best of luck this year. Not only do I hope you all have the best hair, I hope you make all of your dreams a reality. Let this be the year where we all have more love, less heartache, lots of money, and not a single worry. Cheers!

Dallas hair extensions

Working in a Dallas hair salon, it is that time of year where my clients are itching for a change-up in their look. As winter blows in the winds of change, we tend to want a hair color that matches the season. Thinking about throwing in some darker low lights, or even taking the plunge and testing out that gorgeous brunette you have always wanted? Consider bangs and fringe, which are a quick and easy way to change up your look.

Anyone who lives in Dallas knows how brutal our summer can be. I will sometimes have clients who want to try out bangs mid-summer and my biggest bit of advice is: wait till it is cooler outside! The last thing most women in Dallas want is hair on their face, or neck during a hot and humid summer day. If you have naturally curly hair, as soon as your forehead gets the tiniest beads of sweat or humidity, they will kink up and your bangs become an unruly curled hot mess! Anytime you want to try something like fringe or bangs I suggest you do it when the weather is a bit cooler so you have a fair chance of liking them.

First and foremost, what are the differences between fringe and bangs? Nothing. Some people say fringe, some say bangs. Here are some things to consider before trying them out:

1. Are you willing to style them every day? For any type of bang to look its best, it takes some kind of heat styling. Whether it be round-brushing, curling, or using a flat iron, you will need to do something for them to lay like the picture you take your stylist.
2. Are you okay to have hair on your forehead all the time? This is something to consider. If jewelry on your wrist, or clingy sweaters bother you, will bangs on your forehead do the same?
3. What type of bangs are you looking for? Whether it be very few wispy bangs, or a very heavy blunt bang you should have some general idea of what you are looking for. Check out pictures and bring them with you to the salon. Always feel free to ask your stylist what he or she thinks.
4. Do you have a committed part? If not, are you willing to stick with a side should you want side swept bangs?
5. Always keep in mind clip-in hair extensions. There are several options for clip-in bangs that you can use to see whether you like the way you look and can deal with the style.

All in all, bangs are a great way to shake up your style and create great interest around your face. So long as you know they are a bit of a commitment, and do require some styling on a daily basis then you should give them a try. Check out pictures, and show your hair stylist what you like and do not. Good luck!

Dallas hair extensions

Working at one of the best hair extensions’ salon in Dallas, I am asked almost on a daily basis about Greatlengths strand by strand fusion hair extensions. Part of why so many people know about Great Lengths hair extensions is because the brand has such notoriety. Looking for more information from someone who specializes in Dallas hair extensions? Here’s the real deal…

I always start off any conversation about hair extensions by reminding you: there is NEVER a one-brand-fits-all method of hair extensions.  It is incredibly important to see a Dallas hair extension salon that offers several options based on your individual hair type. This is why the most important step in a successful, long term relationship with a hair extension stylist is the hair extension consultation.  At that time, you can tell the stylist what you are ultimately looking for out of hair extensions and they can show you what would best give those results for your natural hair type and lifestyle.

Having said that, I have worked with great lengths hair extensions for years.  As time has passed, and hair extensions have evolved I have opted to work with other brands with similar concepts.  My two biggest troubles with Greatlengths hair extensons are:

1.) Hair Quality – The quality of hair tends to be very inconsistent.   This is not something I can risk offering to clients.

2.) Attachment – The attachment is too strong for most hair types.  The bond material they use, in my professional opinion, is TOO strong.   On one  hand that sounds great, the last thing you want to worry about with hair extensions is them slipping, or not being durable enough. As important as that is, there is a definite point where too strong results in damage to your own natural hair when removing the extensions.

In my personal opinion, when recommending individual strands for someone, I prefer  Balmain or Hairdreams premium hair extensions. They last the same amount of time, hair quality is consistant, and removal is incredibly simple!

To sum up, I am not a fan of great lengths hair extensions.   The most important thing with wearing hair extensions is to choose the type that best suits your natural hair type and lifestyle so as to minimize any potential damage.  Given the advancement in technology and the availability of options, I recommend considering Balmain or Hairdreams for your hot fusion strands hair extensions in Dallas.  I am a fan of several different brands of hair extensions because they offer something unique for different types of hair texture, budget, and lifestyle.

Dallas hair extensions

This past September, I had the pleasure of working with easihair pro hair extensions, Christopher Box, and Sarah Potempa during the 2012 New York Fashion Week. This is such a honor, and I was proud to represent Dallas Hair Extensions for the models on the runway! The energy backstage during fashion week is what I can only describe as controlled chaos. There is much to do, little space to do it, and an expectation of excellence.

Easilengths extensions showed their versatility as they were applied in a non-traditional way to give the models extreme length. Instead of putting the extensions close to the scalp, they were applied at the ends of the hair strand. When curled, the panels became hidden in the hair and the end result was seriously long hair.

Check out the behind the scenes video from designers Erickson Beamon show and you see us in action prepping the models. Sarah Potempa was the lead stylist on this shoot, and she did an amazing job of L.A. inspired beachy tossled waves.

**In response to hurricane Sandy, I obviously send my regards to anyone impacted by her devastation. I have a special place in my heart for New York, and I wish everyone in the Northeast nothing but the best of luck!
