How It Works

This may get too technical, but we hope this makes sense so you understand. Normally, your hair is colored, highlighted, smoothing treatment, or permed, it breaks down the Disulfide bonds inside your hair strands. This is why we get split ends, and have to be cautious when coloring hair because the risk of damage is always there.

Olaplex is a bond multiplier containing a single active ingredient, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate. Olaplex works by finding single sulfur hydrogen bonds and cross linking them back together to form disulfide bonds before, during and after services. This means it actually strengthens your hair while you color it, or use any chemical treatment.

Olaplex is the only product of its kind with 8 worldwide patents publishing soon. Olaplex is free of silicone, sulfates, phthalates, DEA, aldehydes, and is never tested on animals.

In Salon Usage – Step 1 & 2

Olaplex is an additive that can be added to hair color, bleach, high lift color, gloss, toners, chemical relaxers, perms, keratin treatments, and smoothing treatments. When used in conjunction with salon chemicals, it strenghtens your hair and decreases the chances of breakage significantly.

Olaplex is a 3 part system that helps rebuild bonds. Step 1 is added to your chemical service in salon. Step 2 is a conditioning treatment added in the shampoo bowl at the salon. Step 3 is an at home treatment you use to maintain the health and condition of your hair.

At Home Treatment – Step 3

The No.3 Bond Perfector is designed for at-home use. It is best to apply to clean, towel-dried hair.

After you shampoo your hair, gently towel dry so it is not soaking wet.
Apply a generous amount of the No.3 Bond Perfector to towel-dried hair and comb/brush for even distribution.
Leave on for a minimum of 10 minutes. Keep in mind, the longer it’s on, the more effective it is. Pro tip: We recommend sleeping with it in, and re-washing your hair the following morning.
Rinse, shampoo and condition using your normal conditioning regimine.

This is NOT a conditioning treatment OR a leave-in treatment. It is meant to be shampooed out of the hair. We recommend following this routine at least once a week. For seriously damaged hair, 2-3 times a week may be necessary.

Can you change the color of hair extensions or wigs?

We definitely don’t recommend coloring hair extensions unless you absolutely have to. The biggest reason is the hair has already been processed since it is usually from a dark haired ponytail that has been colored to get to its color you see when you purchase it. Any additional coloring is additional chemical processing, which can decrease the soft quality of hair. In times when it is absolutely necessary, we know which brands to work with and how to color the hair so as to not affect the quality.
