Dallas hair extensions

Balmain Hair Extensions are veterans to the industry. Balmain Hair has been a supplier of extensions and hair care since 1975. The famous Balmain fashion house stands for a unique concept of elegance and style. All hair from Balmain is 100% human, remy hair that is offered in several lengths and textures.   Here is some information on the fusion strand method I offer in the salon:

How they Work

Using a bond that is vegetable oil based, these strands are individually softened and wrapped around your own hair to create a beautiful and natural addition of volume or length.   When the bond cools, it seals itself for a wearing period of around 4-5 months.  Fusion strands are ideal for someone with a lifestyle that requires versatile hair.  Since these are individually applied, putting your hair up in a pony tail or vigorous athletics are never an issue.

Balmain is notorious for consistency and the quality of hair in these hair extensions is much the same.  They are offered in 12″, 16″ and 22″ in length with textures of straight, natural straight, wavy, and curly.   This is ideal for someone with naturally wavy, or even kinky curly hair.

How Long Do They Last?

Balmain strands are adhered to your hair for up to 4-5 months.  Around the 4 month mark it becomes time to remove and replace the hair.

Maintenance:

After having the extensions applied, every 6 weeks you will need to come in to the salon for a tidy cut. We will shampoo, blow-dry your hair and make sure there is no tangling and remove any natural shedding to prevent tangling. I will also trip any hair that has naturally shed, to keep from having the bonds tangle.

Every day at home you will need to take a minute or two to just make sure the bonds are separated. You will also need to regularly brush the bonds to make sure your new hair growth remains tangle-free.

How Long Does it Take to Put them In?

Application for volume generally takes 2 hours. For full length, anywhere from 3-4 hours.

Do they cause damage to your own hair?

When put on the right client, and they are maintained properly there should be absolutely no damage. This is where the importance of a hair extension consultation comes into play.

How much do they cost?

Chunky highlights don’t necessarily need to look like thick stripes within your hair color. In the 90’s thick stripes were in, but it’s now 2012 and those highlights aren’t acceptable anymore. You can still get chunky highlights, though, that look current and classy.

The above pictures represent past trends that have come and gone. (Hopefully for good.) If your colorist is still doing your color in a manner that resembles this, it’s time for a change. As the days pass, so do the trends and it is your hair stylist’s obligation to stay up to date with the latest techniques. If you’re sporting the same do as you were ten years ago, try something new. If your stylist is unable to do that for you, it’s time to move on.

Above, you see pictures of more current chunky highlights. Current trends shy away from the striped look of having vertical lines in your hair. Try out a peek-a-boo highlight that shows off thick chunks of colors within your layers. As is true with most things, Less is always more!

Dallas hair extensions

Being a Dallas salon that focuses on hair extensions and color, we have to work with the best Dallas hair extension products on the market. There are three secrets to having great hair extensions: the quality of hair extension, the cut/color that blends them into your style, and the products you use on a daily basis. With hair extensions, it is of utmost importance to use products that keep the hair quality as if it is always new hair. To make sure you keep the hair soft, shiny, and easy to maintain, I recommend three stellar hair extension products. Each serves a different purpose, and I

What are they?

Tape Hair Extensions in Dallas are one of the most popular types of hair extensions our clients love!  Tape Hair Extensions are one of the easiest, most comfortable methods available. These human, remy hair extensions are a fantastic, non-damaging, and quick way to add volume,  and length.  Our Skinny Tape Hair Extensions are the thinnest base available, and are only offered at Bigger Better Hair in Dallas, TX.

Our Skinny Tape hair extensions in Dallas are thin panels of hair on a discreet weft, and use hypoallergenic surgical grade tape on a polyurethane base.  They come in bundles of 14 wefts, which make 7 complete extensions.  We offer 5 services for every extension method we offer at Bigger Better Hair.  Which service you need depends on the look you want to achieve.

Our Skinny Tape Services

Fill In Service (7 panels)

With only 7 panels, this system is rarely used. We recommend this service for someone who experienced a bad haircut, or has a hard time filling in the hair around their face.

Volume Service (14 panels)

This is one of the most popular systems. With 14 panels you see a significant addition of volume in your hair.  If length is added with this service, the ends will be very fine and tapered.

Length & Volume (21 panels)

This is our other most popular service. 21 panels of our skinny tape extensions are when you start to really transform your hair and add length and volume.  This can offer a natural, but dramatic change in your length.

XL Length & Volume Treatment (28 panels)

Anything is possible with 28 panels of our skinny tape extensions.  This is when we get into #instagram worth hair.  This amount of hair allows you to have a perfectly blended and beautifully full style.

XXL Length & Volume Treatment (35 panels)

If you are looking for #biggerbetterhair this is the service.  This is for the girl who wants an extremely full, beautiful, long, and dense head of hair.

How Long Do They Last?

Most clients wear they same hair for 6 months, with regular re-applications.  Once applied, the extensions are good for daily usage for 6-8 weeks.  After six to eight weeks (which usually falls within a time frame to refresh hair color) the extensions are removed. New tape is applied while the color processes, and the same hair is reapplied.  You re-use the same hair extensions multiple times until the hair needs replacing.

Why Choose Skinny Tape?

Our Skinny tape hair extensions in Dallas are the bomb dot com. They are a fantastic way to amp up your hair style in a cost effective way. If you have a fine, or thin hair texture they are the absolute best method of hair extensions for you. The base is a very flat panel that is hardly noticed, extremely discreet, and are the most comfortable you can possibly wear.  This method of extensions comes with the least amount of drawbacks compared to any other type of extensions.  Last but not least, we are the only Dallas Hair Extensions Salon who carries Skinny Tape Extensions as they have been developed by our stylists, tested on our clients who have worn extensions for years.

Dallas hair extensions

Today I’m starting a new trend following celebrity hair extensions in Dallas: “Love it or Weave it!” This is a fun way to focus on celebrity hair extension trends I absolutely LOVE, and some unbeWEAVEable looks we should leave- no, ‘weave’ behind!

Let’s start with the Weave it list:

Paris, Paris, Paris. With the amount of money we can all assume she spent on her hair, she should have just donated the hair to Locks of Love. A strand by strand, or hair locks, system is not the ideal set of hair extensions for her hair type. Furthermore, they were placed way too high on her head making it impossible to hide. Unbeweavable! Lindsay Lohan looks to have the same hair extension problem in the first photo. In the second picture of LLo, she has a serious color match issue! Check out the difference in her roots, and ends. Wowza! As for Christina Aguilera, she either lost track of her hair extension care products, or she is wearing a 100% Horse Hair Clip in System.

Now, on to my Love it list:

Juliana Rancic has been wearing extensions for quite some time, and as you can see she is always looking classy and her color is fashion forward. She’s a personal favorite of mine. Another fave of mine is Jennifer Lopez. Jennifer has a ton of weave in her hair and she takes the time to have it styled to perfection. Last, but not least, is a Dallas resident herself. Khloe Kardashian is a big fan of hair extensions, and I love it! She always has a tremendous amount of volume, and her hair looks well taken care of, and fashion forward.

Dallas hair stylist review: Long wavy hair has been the hottest trend for the past few years. Anything resembling a ringlet is out of style, and looser waves are in. Think Kim Kardashian, or check out Selma Hayek at the 2012 Golden Globes. Simply gorgeous!

I recreated this look on a model and wanted to show how easy this can be. I didn’t buy a new tool, or a popular wand that is flooding the market. I simply used my existing curling iron, and wrapped small sections of hair around it without using the clamp. As always, I work with sections starting around the nape, and work my way up and around the head. By using sections, you have a clean, and organized palette to work with.

After I was done I sprayed the whole look with a light, finishing hair spray to help hold the style. By using a finishing spray, it allows movement, and wont freeze the style like a freezing spray would.

Dallas hair extensions

When looking for longer thicker hair extensions in Dallas you should not make the decision on a whim.  Luxury services such as hair extensions are something that may be offered by many, but you should really seek the leaders in the field.  Cost and potential damage are the two big reasons why you should research before having hair extensions installed.  Here’s why:

Cost

Lets be honest, hair extensions are a luxury service.  Even at the low end, they bear a cost that’s not something to take lightly.  Having said that, it is important that you do your research so the hair stylist applying your hair extensions has years of experience.  The last thing you want to happen is having buyers remorse due to botched hair extensions or bad hair quality.

Potential Damage

Just like having an inexperienced colorist working on your hair, having an inexperienced extensionist can cause tremendous damage. There are several types of hair extensions targeted towards different hair types and different results.  If you find a stylist that has a one-extension-fits-all approach I have one bit of advice: RUN. There is no way I would use the same system of extensions on someone with thick, curly hair as I would on someone with very fine, straight hair.

Always remember: you only have one shot with hair. If hair is damaged, it is a grueling, time consuming process to grow it back.

Examples of what good hair extensions should NOT look like:

What you may not be aware of is the amount of people who actually wear extensions that perfectly match their own hair.  I definitely have quite a few clients who love adding extra length with hair extensions, but my average client is looking for fuller or thicker hair.

If you’ve been considering changing up your look, bangs are an easy way to do the trick. There’s no better time than now, during the colder winter months to take the plunge. The problem with bangs during summer is they can easily get caught up in the notorious dallas heat and drive you crazy. When your forehead is sweating, or it’s a thousand degrees outside, the last thing you want is hair sticking to it. If you add some fringe now, by the time it’s warmer outside they will have grown out into a longer side-swept bang that’s much better suited for spring, summer months.

Interestingly enough, one of California’s most notorious celebs now calls Dallas home. Talk about a major change! Although we can be known for our Dallitude, or a snobby outlook, it looks like everyone is welcoming Khloe Kardashian with open arms. She seems to have her life together, and bringing good energy to the city.

She’s a poster-child for hair extensions, so I’m curious to see how she manages those long locks in the middle of 100+ degree summers. From me to you, Khloe, I welcome you to Dallas and I look forward to working with you at the best hair salon in Dallas

(Wishful thinking, but I at least need to put that energy out there!)
