Having a base break in Dallas is great for extending your Dallas Highlights.  If you aren’t sure about what a base break does, or what it is, here is more information regarding breaking the base, or a base break hair color in Dallas.

What is a base break?

Breaking the base, or a base break, is used to blend the hair that is not highlighted in-between foils.  It is used to break-up the darker roots that were not lightened, which helps remove any line of demarcation in your hair color.

To do a base break, hair color is applied after your highlights for a few minutes to very lightly soften the remaining roots.  (Generally done in the shampoo bowl)  The color is only on your roots for a few minutes to not completely alter the color, or expose too much of the underlying warmth in your natural hair color.

When should you get a base break?

If your hair is medium darkness, and you are highlighting it, there will be quite a bit of hair in between your foils that is not highlighted.  After the hair is highlighted, this is when you would get a base break.

In 3-4 weeks when your roots become visible, you can return to the salon for a base break service to help soften your new-growth and extend your previous highlights for another 3-4 weeks.

How much is a base break?

If added on to your existing color service, a base break is $35.

If done without having another service done, a base break has two prices.  One includes a blowout or style, and one includes leaving the salon with towel dried hair:

Base Break with Blowout: $70

Base Break  without Blowout: $35
